Frailty prevention

Getting older happens to us all, but getting frailer doesn't have to come with getting older.  Preventing frailty or combating frailty are really important to ensure good health and well-being.

The frailty prevention programme is a unique package tailored to your individual needs.  Comprehensive assessment and treatment will focus on the following:

 

  • your physical abilities

  • your home

  • your surroundings

  • your lifestyle

  • strength,exercise tolerance and mobility

  • personal and domestic tasks

  • goal setting

  • aids/ adaptations

  • opportunities for socialising/ social activities

  • mental well-being

  • family and social support

Frailty prevention can be of benefit to all older people or people at risk of immobility due to illness, including those who have recently come out of hospital or who are trying to avoid a hospital admission.

Combat frailty by following these simple tips:

  • exercise regularly

  • eat a good healthy diet - plenty fruit and veg

  • stop smoking

  • get plenty vitamin D from the sun or fruit and veg as vitamin D ensures your bones are kept strong
